Past Scholarship Winners – 2016/2017 Academic Year

All of the following young women were the top scholastic performers of their schools in addition to being more involved in sports, academia extra curricular activities and volunteering than we could every hope to capture in just a few sentences. These are extraordinary young girls.

Kylee Bauer

Received the SWE Sierra Foothills Section Scholarship

Kylee Bauer will be attending UCLA and majoring in Civil Engineering. Among her many accomplishments she was Varsity Captain of her 2016 Volleyball, basketball AND track and field teams. When she wasn’t attending classes or training with her teams she was also the Yearbook Editor in Chief. We wish you the best of times at your new school, Kylee!


Rachel Tucker

Received the SWE Sierra Foothills Section Scholarship

Rachel Tucker will be attending Texas A&M majoring in Mechanical Engineering. During her high school career, she was the founding member and Vice President of the Vista Del Lago Engineering Club and a part of the National Honor Society. In her spare time she played indoor soccer and coached youth soccer. Don’t forget to celebrate how wonderful you are while pursuing Mechanical Engineering!


Shreya Sahoo

Received the SWE Sierra Foothills Section Scholarship

Shreya Sahoo is going to attend UC Berkeley majoring in Computer Science. In addition to Shreya’s academic accomplishments, which include AP Scholar with Distinction, she volunteers at the Cognitive Exchange, Key Club and Empire Ranch Alzheimer’s Center. Through her busy schedule she was also Tennis Varsity Co-Captain Girls Doubles Player. Computer Science is a lot of fun – we hope you enjoy your future engineering career!


Allison Pearson

Received the Leadership Scholarship

Allison is going to attend UC Berkeley while majoring in Chemical Engineering. While in High School, she demonstrated great leadership in many extra curricular activities. She was the Vice President and founding member of TeamHOPE Interact Club, President of the Foothill Science club, Team Captain of the Department of Energy Regional Science Bowl, Vice President of the Math Club and much more. While pursuing a challenging discipline we hope you continue your passion for extra curricular activities and always challenge yourself to be involved in the campus and community!


Paige Hermanson

Received the Engineering Awareness Program Scholarship

Paige is attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo majoring in Civil Engineering. Paige was not only a high academic achiever in High School, but she was also passionate in sports and academic extra curriculars. She was the Co-Captain of the Soccer Team, Found and President of the Engineering Club and advisory Senator in the Student Government. Enjoy learning about bridges, buildings and water in school; we know you will excel in your new chosen profession!


Valerie Quiroz

Received the Mabel Esteves Memorial Scholarship

Valerie is going to attend UC Davis while pursuing a degree in Bio-Medical Engineering.  In addition to high scholastic performance, Valerie was in the Solano County Honor Jazz Band, a part of the JV Softball team and a volunteer at the Horseplay Therapeutic Riding Center. UC Davis is lucky to have you, knock their socks off!
